March Volunteer of the Month

Mar 6, 2014

Every month we gather as a staff to select our Volunteer of the Month. With so many superstar volunteers it is always a tough choice, yet, each month one person or group stands out above the rest. This month we are pleased to announce Lisa Martinez is our March Volunteer of the Month!

Casa Chirilagua Teens Club learns yoga

Several of our middle school students were blessed by Lisa’s introduction to yoga last month. Over the course of four weeks, she shared her extraordinary yoga skills with several of our students during our Monday night yoga series. She combined difficult physical challenges with peaceful reflections on scripture, reminding our students in each session that they are designed by God to find their peace in Him.

Lisa has trained for years, teaches at gyms in the DC area, and manages her own yoga company, Selah Yoga. Her willingness to take time out of her schedule and give freely of her expertise and wisdom richly blessed our kids.

Thank you Lisa!!

Our relational network of volunteers and donors reflects a diverse group of individuals from all over the Washington, D.C. metro area. As a non-profit, we rely on the community for assisting program directors on-site, being mentors, supplying the needs of our food pantry, and everything in between. Each member of our Casa community holds a unique gift, whether time, talent or treasure.
