We have so many volunteers at Casa Chirilagua and that makes our Volunteer of the Year difficult to select. Over the past school year, Casa Chirilagua recorded over 100 regular volunteers who contributed over 3,000 hours of service time…and that’s just the time we were able to record. We are sure there are thousands of hours more that were contributed but not recorded. Each year, we recognize one volunteer for his or her on-going commitment to Casa Chirilagua’s students and families.
This volunteer found Kids Club when we moved into Beverley Hills Community United Methodist Church. She has retired from compensated work but she never stops giving back to her community. Volunteering at Kids Club 2-3 times per week along with master gardening are a few of her many hobbies that keep her busy. This volunteer quickly weaseled her way into the heart of all of our students, particularly our 3rd grade boys who always asked to be paired with her. For her commitment, endless hours of volunteer time, and love for the Kids Club students, we name Ms. Amy Reed, the 2012-2013 Casa Chirilagua Volunteer of the Year.
