October was an eventful month. Kids Club attended Congreso Kids 4G (see more in the Congreso Kids article). Also, Kids Club went to the pumpkin patch on a field trip. The kids earn field trip points for participation and positive behavior. With those points they are able to attend monthly field trips. The kids had a blast running from activity to activity. It was fun to watch kids mesmerized by animals. Some kids spent the entire afternoon feeding goats, chicks and ducks while other kids played in the sand pit, rolled down hills in large tubes and slid down giant slides. Everyone took home a small pumpkin.
Kids Club fared well through Hurricane/Tropical Storm Sandy. With a potential of major flooding and wind damage, the school systems and even the federal government shutdown. We missed the damage that New York and New Jersey underwent.
Our kids are learning the meaning of thanksgiving as we enter this new season. When asked what they would give back to their parents, a 2nd grade girl said, “forgiveness”. We now look forward to a season of celebrating the harvest and giving thanks to God for the good things we have received, especially his grace.
