Community Leaders

Feb 12, 2014

Our parent leadership group and strategic direction committee are comprised community leaders who are interested in shaping the future of their community.

Our parent committee, comprised of elected parent leaders from families participating in our programs, leads neighborhood parents by discussing programming, fundraising activities, and general neighborhood issues. The parent committee meets monthly to support and encourage one another as they work together for the well-being of their children and the greater community.

Our strategic direction community action committee, comprised of community leaders, is a committee of the board that meets on a quarterly basis and holds the following responsibilities:

  • create the organization’s 3 year strategic direction plan
  • establish annual programmatic commitments of the plan
  • review quarterly progress on annual commitments and hold the organization accountable
  • hosts annual community celebration to celebrate accomplishments

We are a community of people “learning together to love our neighbors as ourselves” in a Latino neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia.

As a faith-based Christian non-profit with a small staff and over 100 volunteers, we serve alongside more than 100 families and their children (1st-12th grades) each week through our community programs.

Our relational network of volunteers and donors reflects a diverse group of individuals from all over the Washington, D.C. metro area. As a non-profit, we rely on the community for assisting program directors on-site, being mentors, supplying the needs of our food pantry, and everything in between. Each member of our Casa community holds a unique gift, whether time, talent or treasure.
