February Volunteer of the Month

Feb 5, 2014

Every month we gather as a staff to select our Volunteer of the Month. With so many superstar volunteers it is always a tough choice, yet, each month one person or group stands out above the rest. This month we are pleased to announce Jesse Kirk is our February Volunteer of the Month!

Casa Chirilagua mentor Jesse Kirk

Jesse started mentoring one of our Kids Club boys in late October and he’s also served as a volunteer during our Christmas event and periodically at Kids Club. When he volunteers at Kids Club, his mentee’s face lights up! Jesse is extremely helpful, taking initiative during Kids Club and helping other students who need assistance as well as helping with clean-up. He does a great job in his mentorship, taking his mentee to museums and the zoo. We’re thankful to have such a fantastic mentor and volunteer in our Casa family!

We are a community of people “learning together to love our neighbors as ourselves” in a Latino neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia.

As a faith-based Christian non-profit with a small staff and over 100 volunteers, we serve alongside more than 100 families and their children (1st-12th grades) each week through our community programs.

Our relational network of volunteers and donors reflects a diverse group of individuals from all over the Washington, D.C. metro area. As a non-profit, we rely on the community for assisting program directors on-site, being mentors, supplying the needs of our food pantry, and everything in between. Each member of our Casa community holds a unique gift, whether time, talent or treasure.
