KC for the Holidays

Dec 13, 2011

It’s just been a month, but Kids Club has been, yet again, bustling and busy! After the Art of Restoration, the Alexandria Business Association formally recognized students for their artwork beautifying Alexandria and Mayor Euille specially awarded them. For our monthly field trip, we went to the bowling alley at Fort Myer. Some brave teams even bowled without bumpers! After the Thanksgiving break, we began practicing our songs and plays for the Christmas dinner. The kids were amazing, memorizing their lines, acting with emotion and singing with gusto! Finally, this week we visited Woodbine Nursing Home to sing carols, make crafts and to just share the warmth of God’s love in us by saying a simple “hello.”

We are a community of people “learning together to love our neighbors as ourselves” in a Latino neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia.

As a faith-based Christian non-profit with a small staff and over 100 volunteers, we serve alongside more than 100 families and their children (1st-12th grades) each week through our community programs.

Our relational network of volunteers and donors reflects a diverse group of individuals from all over the Washington, D.C. metro area. As a non-profit, we rely on the community for assisting program directors on-site, being mentors, supplying the needs of our food pantry, and everything in between. Each member of our Casa community holds a unique gift, whether time, talent or treasure.
