meet gladys, one of our three local leaders!

Jan 7, 2015

The Casa Chiri community is excited to welcome Gladys Monroy as our newest local leader joining the Casa team. Our Local Leaders invest in children from the Chirilagua community while gaining job experience through their part-time position as a Kids Club Assistant.

Here are some fun facts Gladys would like to share about herself:

1. I love being able to give back to the community, I’ve volunteered for United Community Ministries, ALIVE, and Last Chance which are organizations in Alexandria and I plan on continuing to volunteer at these locations and Sunrise Senior Living as well.
2. I love making desserts as if I were a chef from monkey bread to pumpkin pie.
3. I love to travel, and I’d love to be able to spread the Word in doing so.
Please join us in welcoming Gladys to the Casa Chiri family!

We are a community of people “learning together to love our neighbors as ourselves” in a Latino neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia.

As a faith-based Christian non-profit with a small staff and over 100 volunteers, we serve alongside more than 100 families and their children (1st-12th grades) each week through our community programs.

As a non-profit, we rely on the community for assisting program directors on-site, being mentors, supplying the needs of our food pantry, and everything in between. Each member of our Casa community holds a unique gift, whether time, talent or treasure.
