Meet Walter, One of Our Three Local Leaders

Sep 4, 2014

The Casa Chiri community is excited to welcome Walter Urbina, as one of our three local leaders who has joined the Casa team. Our Local Leaders will be investing in children from the Chirilagua community as well as gaining job experience through their part-time position as a Kids Club Assistant.

Here are some fun facts Walter would like to share about himself:

  • I was born and raised in El Salvador and arrived to the United States in 2009.

  • I started volunteering for Casa Chirilagua during summer camp in 2013. I never thought that I would be working with Casa Chirilagua as a local leader. Its a great opportunity and I’m excited to be part of this great organization.

  • Some of my favorite things to do are watching soccer and eating pupusas (Salvadorean food).

Please join us in welcoming Walter to the Casa Chiri family!

We are a community of people “learning together to love our neighbors as ourselves” in a Latino neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia.

As a faith-based Christian non-profit with a small staff and over 100 volunteers, we serve alongside more than 100 families and their children (1st-12th grades) each week through our community programs.

As a non-profit, we rely on the community for assisting program directors on-site, being mentors, supplying the needs of our food pantry, and everything in between. Each member of our Casa community holds a unique gift, whether time, talent or treasure.
