Volunteer Spotlight: Amy Reed

Sep 19, 2011

Amy Reed began volunteering as a tutor with Kids Club Fall 2010 when the program moved into the fellowship hall of her church, Beverley Hills Community United Methodist Church. Ms Amy clicked with the kids, and it was only a short matter of time before a few students regularly requested (or insisted) working with her during homework time. At the end of the 2010/2011 school year program assessment, we calculated that Amy gave the most hours of any Kids Club volunteer logging 116 volunteer hours. Additionally, Ms Amy has committed to tutoring two to three days a week for the 2011/2012 school year. Amy is a retired government servant who is rooted in and committed to her community. Kids Club is just one of her multiple volunteer endeavors. We are grateful for the time she invests in our students and selflessly gives of herself to the larger community. For this reason, we recognize Amy Reed as the September Casa Chirilagua Volunteer of the month.
