Middle School: Our Beginning

Sep 26, 2012

The much anticipated September 17th came and with it, a lot of joy, because our Middle School Program launched! We had a successful registration night a few weeks ago with 15 families in attendance. When I spoke to some of the students, the common statement was, “When are we starting the program?!  I want it to start already!”  I’m very thankful for the people who have shown interest in volunteering at our program. It’s wonderful to see so many different people who desire to work with Casa Chiri. It’s too early to tell, but I feel the need for consistent volunteers will be a big need so please share this request with others. If you are interested in volunteering for our Middle School Program, please email me at adriana@casachirilagua.org. This is going to be one great school year! Come alongside us for the adventure!

NEEDS: YA Books and Reading Materials

We want our middle schoolers to HUNGER for reading. We are in need of reading material for our students. This can be magazines/magazine subscriptions (i.e., Teen Bop), books (i.e., The Hunger Games, Harry Potter Series) or any other material that will be suitable for middle school students. Materials can be donated at the Casa Chirilagua office located at 3846 King Street Alexandria, VA 22302 between the hours of 10am-5pm M-F. Call Adriana at 703-870-6258 before making a drop or email adriana@casachirilagua.org for more information.

We are a community of people “learning together to love our neighbors as ourselves” in a Latino neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia.

As a faith-based Christian non-profit with a small staff and over 100 volunteers, we serve alongside more than 100 families and their children (1st-12th grades) each week through our community programs.
