6th Grader’s Legacy

Feb 11, 2013

On February 2nd, we held a training for Teens Club student-volunteers who would be helping tutor younger Kids Club students. The middle school kids showed up half awake, but after a small breakfast, they were fully present and eager to volunteer with the kids. When we asked them why they wanted to volunteer, many of them had very impressive answers. The one that stood out was Orlando’s. He responded, “When the kids get older, they will remember me as a volunteer, and they will return to volunteer also.” I said, “You want to leave behind a legacy?” And with deep conviction he said, “Yes.” That is inspiration.
