Ana comes to us with a rich cultural background that is common among the Chirilagua neighbors. Born and raised in Alexandria, she grew up in and still is very much a part of the Chirilagua community. Her parents are from the original Chirilagua, San Miguel, in El Salvador.
Ana was elated when offered the opportunity to join the Casa Chirilagua Local Leader program. “I wanted to work with Casa Chirilagua to give back to my community and make a difference in a child’s life.” She most enjoys the relationships she is developing with the Kids Club students. “I feel it’s good for a child to have someone they can trust.” Serving as a Local Leader with Casa Chirilagua gives her the opportunity to do so. “[Working here] also gives me an opportunity to help guide them in the right direction.”
When asked what she likes to do, she responded with a smile, “I like watching movies, shopping, and traveling.” Anna joins the team having already quite a bit of experience in tutoring as she has been serving with Avid Tutors for over a year and continues to do so.
Ana is halfway through her studies at George Mason University. As a Local Leader she knows she has leadership qualities, but with an open and learning desire says, “I would like to improve them.” We are very glad to have Ana join the Casa family and be a part of her growth!
