Casa Chirilagua December Volunteer of the Month 2013

December Volunteer of the Month: Eve Lamois.

Eve began mentoring with Casa Chirilagua almost a year ago. In that year she has proven to be a dedicated and loving mentor. She’s grown close to her mentee as well as his family, taking them on outings together and visiting with his teachers to help him increase his academic success – which he has!

This year at Kids Club, during the longer program days in October, she lead multiple art projects for our students with such ease and patience. The kids especially loved painting autumn leaves with water colors. Eve’s dedication and efforts towards her mentee’s family and the Chirilagua community make her December’s volunteer of the month!

We are a community of people “learning together to love our neighbors as ourselves” in a Latino neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia.

As a faith-based Christian non-profit with a small staff and over 100 volunteers, we serve alongside more than 100 families and their children (1st-12th grades) each week through our community programs.

Our relational network of volunteers and donors reflects a diverse group of individuals from all over the Washington, D.C. metro area. As a non-profit, we rely on the community for assisting program directors on-site, being mentors, supplying the needs of our food pantry, and everything in between. Each member of our Casa community holds a unique gift, whether time, talent or treasure.
