Local Leader Intern 2012: Jennifer Zambrano

Jul 9, 2012

We are pleased to announce that Jennifer Zambrano is our 2012 Summer Local Leader. Her name may sound familiar to many of you since she was featured as the “Casa Chiri May Volunteer of the Month.”  Jennifer is 16 years old and will be a sophomore this fall at TC Williams High School. We met Jennifer when she came to pick up her two younger siblings from the Kids Club program in the fall of 2011.
Jennifer’s internship responsibilities include daily one-to-one reading interventions with Kids Club students, assisting with the weekly Kids Club field trips and serving as a leader for the Alexandria Prebyterian Church VBS. Over the summer, Jennifer will receive multiple opportunities to be trained and will meet twice a week with her internship mentor. In addition to gaining applicable skills through training and working with children, she is also learning how to complete a job application, fill out tax forms and stay on top of time sheets. We are so excited to have Jennifer working with us this summer.

We are a community of people “learning together to love our neighbors as ourselves” in a Latino neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia.

As a faith-based Christian non-profit with a small staff and over 100 volunteers, we serve alongside more than 100 families and their children (1st-12th grades) each week through our community programs.
