Casa Chirilagua Mentoring Thanksgiving Dinner

November’s Thanksgiving potluck lunch was a huge success! See all the photos on Facebook. We had about 50 people from our mentoring family gather and share a meal together. The menu was diverse and delicious while the atmosphere was relaxed and joyful. Many were saying this needs to be an annual tradition. Together we made a thanksgiving tree where we wrote what we were thankful for. Here are some entries:

“I’m thankful for my mom”

“I’m thankful for my friends and Kids Club”

“Gracias por el programa que ayuda a los niños y niñas (Thank you for this program which helps the boys and girls)”

“I’m thankful for my mentor”

Thank you all who participated!

Casa Chirilagua Christmas Celebration 2012

If you missed the potluck, you can join us for our Christmas celebration Sat. Dec. 7th, 6pm at Grace Episcopal Church. Interested in helping during the event? Please sign up for a volunteer time slot here. We’ll have special presentations, sing songs together and eat! Remember to bring a dish to share.

January is National Mentoring Month! There will be opportunities where you can help with our mentor recruitment during this month. Stay tuned!

Our relational network of volunteers and donors reflects a diverse group of individuals from all over the Washington, D.C. metro area. As a non-profit, we rely on the community for assisting program directors on-site, being mentors, supplying the needs of our food pantry, and everything in between. Each member of our Casa community holds a unique gift, whether time, talent or treasure.
