2016 Partner of the Year: Restoration City Church

Jul 15, 2016

A few years ago, Restoration City Church (RCC) was exploring opportunities to encourage their congregation’s involvement in local service to the community. Not long after reaching out to Casa, they jumped in to building relationships and serving alongside the Casa Chirilagua family. In the past year RCC has sponsored a family dinner night, supported Casa financially, partnered in prayer, and provided volunteer support — including a stellar mentor who has practically become a member of her mentees family and a high school leader who captivates her students.

When a neighborhood leader shared her idea of a bike ride for children to the Washington monument followed by a celebratory asado (BBQ), RCC caught that vision and supported her with a group of volunteers as well as financial support. More recently, when a mentor spoke to RCC regarding her mentoring experience at Casa, the RCC community responded with a flurry of interest.

RCC has just moved their Sunday morning worship services to the nearby Gunston Community Center and we are happy to have them even closer! We are grateful for RCC’s commitment to building relationships with neighbors and families in our community and for their partnership in ministry.

For these reasons, we name Restoration City Church Casa Chirilagua’s partner of the year. We’re glad you are a part of the Casa Chiri family and look forward to the years to come.

We are a community of people “learning together to love our neighbors as ourselves” in a Latino neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia.

As a faith-based Christian non-profit with a small staff and over 100 volunteers, we serve alongside more than 100 families and their children (1st-12th grades) each week through our community programs.
